Make
The First Aid Manual Your Own!
As part of the
Caribbean First Aid Project, work on a
new Caribbean first aid manual is well
under way and needs your help. The
work on this manual has been divided up between
each of the three National Societies. The
responsibilities are as follows:
- Grenada
Red Cross – technical
input and accuracy of the manual. Contact: Ms.
Keann Braveboy keannb@yahoo.com
- Belize
Red Cross – design
and proof reading. Contact: Ms.
Stephanie Young-Scheuerman tigerprint13@yahoo.com
- Trinidad
and Tobago Red Cross – photography
and illustrations. Contact: Ms.
Anicka Senior anickamaria@yahoo.com
The wording for
the manual will be based on the text from
the British Red Cross Practical First Aid
book and will include updates and regional
inputs so that the content reflects first
aid in the Caribbean as well as the new
resuscitation guidelines.
A large
proportion of the photographs for the manual
will be taken locally in the Caribbean although
where existing photos are suitable those
will be used.
The design of the manual
will also reflect the Caribbean and will
be professional, instructive and easy for
the reader to use.
We are currently
undertaking a world wide search for the
best quality best priced printer and designer
to take on production of the manual.
We
are asking for prices on range of print options
so that we can get the absolute best quality
publication for the available budget.
There
is a commitment to keep the price as low
as possible so that it is affordable in all
the English speaking Caribbean countries.
If you would like
to input into this exciting new manual
please send your comments to the relevant
National Society.
For example
you may have existing photographs that could
be used, a well worded example of how to
treat a burn or a great idea for the cover
of the manual.
This is your opportunity
to be part of creating this exciting new
publication specifically for first aid in
the Caribbean. It is anticipated that
the manual will complete its first print
run by the end of November.
For comments
or enquiries please contact one of the Project
National Societies or the British Red Cross
Project Coordinator, Donna Williams. |
