Water and Sanitation Training - Profiles

The Caribbean Regional Representation Office of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in conjunction with the Pan American Disaster Response Unit (PADRU) held a Water and Sanitation (Water Testing) Training (WatSan) for persons previously trained as Water and Sanitation Regional Intervention Team (RIT) members.
The training was held in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad from October 31 – November 1, 2007 and funded by the European Commission Humanitarian Aid Department (DG ECHO).

The following are profiles of the participants and how they intend to use the training that they have received.

NATIONAL SOCIETY/OVERSEAS BRANCH: Suriname Red Cross

POSITION IN RED CROSS: Volunteer/Trainer in First Response for Medical Emergencies and WatSan Hygiene Promotion

YEARS WITH/WORKING IN THE RED CROSS: Two years

“This training was a follow up from what I have received previously. I was a facilitator at this training and this was my first international challenge standing in front of a class. Back home I think that it will be necessary to carry out more training to teach people how to use the water testing kits.”
