Cayman Islands Red Cross - Herfer Hyde

Herfer Hyde

Helping people is something that Herfer Hyde has always enjoyed.

"I like to see the smile on people's faces when you reach out to them," she explains.

"I love people and I want to make an impact in the society I live in," she adds.  And an impact she has made indeed.

Ms. Hyde, a native of Jamaica and resident in the Cayman Islands for over 13 years, was a Red Cross youth volunteer in her native Jamaica, and over the past two years she has made a significant contribution to the Cayman Islands Branch of the British Red Cross.

She has participated in Disaster Preparedness, distributions, fundraising, and "anything (she) be called upon to do".  Always happily willing to lend a hand, Ms. Hyde's smile and easygoing attitude has become a fixture at every volunteer meeting, which she attends dutifully.

When asked why she continues to volunteer with the Red Cross, she answers "I love to do it, and I take my responsibility very seriously".
