Anselmo Cruz

My name is Anselmo Cruz and I am a 56 year old man.  When I retired from the US military and returned home to Belize five years ago, I was looking for a way to assist those in need and to be of help during emergency situations.  The Belize Red Cross has been the perfect vehicle for me to achieve these objectives.

When Hurricane Iris hit Belize and devastated my district in 2000, I volunteered to assist in the emergency phase. My military training was very useful to me at that time and I was able to work well with the local and international teams. It was an extremely rewarding experience.  After that, I was hooked!

Currently I hold the post of Coordinator of the Toledo Branch of Belize Red Cross. This is a Volunteer Post for which I receive a small stipend to cover my expenses. I have taken part in several training exercises and my hope for the future is to have a more active and coordinated Youth Group for our Branch.
