members and relief directors

The Pan American Disaster Response Unit (PADRU) with the support of the European Commission Humanitarian Aid Department (DG) conducted a Regional Intervention Team (RIT) Refresher Training from July 8-13 in Panama City, Panama.

Twenty-four previously trained RITs from Central America and the Caribbean attended the course which was conducted in both Spanish and English.

The RIT Refresher course provided a forum for discussion regional National Society relief directors, and RIT members who have been deployed in the last two years, and enabled previously trained RITs since 1999 an opportunity to be updated on the Federation’s regional response mechanisms and procedures.

Kathleen Martin, PADRU Disaster Management (DM) Delegate said the objective of the course was to provide a forum for relief directors, PADRU and previously deployed RIT members to evaluate and discuss the current RIT trainings, deployment mechanisms and lessons learnt after deployments.
