  New Executive meets for the first time at Guayaquil
 

The first meeting of the newly elected CCORC management committee was held on June 5 in Guyaquil, Ecuador during the XVIII Inter-Americas Conference. Some of the issues discussed included:

  • convening of a working meeting in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad at the end of July 2007;
  • preparation of a strategic plan;
  • submission of work plans for all the networks, and;
  • submission of membership fees.
  • funding of  the CCORC’s management committee meetings;
  • funding of an administrative assistant;

Additionally, National Societies of the CCORC met the same day to discuss two main issues – the hosting of the 2009 Biennial Meeting and the 2011 Inter-American Conference.

The group also discussed the appointment of the new CORI president as well as the nomination of the two Caribbean members to CORI.

It was decided that the candidate for the post of president should be the president of the Dominican Republic Red Cross. After much debate, it was decided that the Dominican Republic and Trinidad and Tobago would be the CCORC’s nominations.
