The International Federation
of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is pleased to announce
the appointment of Ms TANYA WOOD as Co-ordinator of its Port-of-Spain
Sub Regional Office.
She replaces Ms JULIA BROTHWELL who
left in January after serving the Caribbean for two years. Tanya has been working with the Red Cross since 1999 and
she is definitely no stranger to this region.
She started
working in the British Red Cross' International Division
and worked in various other roles including the DfID/Federation
Partnership Advisor in the Federation's Secretariat in
Geneva; the British Red Cross Logistics Emergency Response
Unit (ERU) in Grenada following Hurricane Ivan; Operations
manager for the Guyana Floods Operation in 2005 (six
months) and her last mission was in Sri Lanka where she
was the Tsunami Southern District Field Co-ordinator
from November 2005 to February 2007. Tanya says she is very excited
about having the opportunity to work again in the Caribbean
and that she is looking forward to working with all the
Red Cross partners in this region.
“It
is a challenging year ahead with the Inter American Conference
and the new Plan of Action for the Americas . So I feel it
is an opportune and exciting time to be taking up this position
in the region.” The International Federation is pleased to have Tanya on
board and wished Julia all the best in her future endeavours.
