Thursday 24th January was the date chosen to stage the Grenada Red Cross Society’s first ever 'National Enrollment Day' exercise in the GRCS Conference room.
There was a total of 38 candidates (nine boys and 29 girls) from three schools. Fifteen candidates came from the St. Louis Girls RC School, 17 from the Corinth Government, and 16 from the Holy Innocent Anglican School.
Groups held individual enrollment exercises in the past, but it was decided to bring all groups together to deal with various challenges caused by organise such exercises.
The occasion proved to be special for the candidates as they took their oath, said their pledges, their motto and aim.
The exercise began with an inspection by Director General Terry Charles. In his address to the gathering, he encouraged candidates to continue in the Red Cross movement, the largest single humanitarian organization in the world. He said they should volunteer not for the benefits derived but for the satisfaction it brings.
Brief remarks also came from youth director Garrick Baptiste, who praised the teachers and others for their efforts in preparing candidates for this special exercise.
