Grenada Red Cross mounts public booth on World First Aid Day

September 20, 2007

The Grenada Red Cross Society (GRCS) mounted a First Aid booth on September 8 – World First Aid Day.

More than 100 persons visited the booth which was located in front the main transport hub, the Bus Terminal in St George’s, the capital.

First Aid volunteers Rockel Bartholomew, Augustine Jones, Chinnel Andrews, Kerlin Charles, Randolph Sampson and Kelly Francis ran the booth from around 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

A number of items were on display and volunteers used the opportunity to share information and demonstrate First Aid skills to passers-by.

A number of tokens and 50 vouchers for free First Aid training during September were given out.

The aim of the activity was to share information with the public. The emphasis, though, was on drivers in an effort to highlight the importance of Road Safety.

Drivers were offered free First Aid sessions for the duration of September, and all they need to show is their valid drivers license.

The local taxis, public bus associations and officers of the Royal Grenada Police Force, Traffic Department, are all being targeted to make use of this opportunity.
