Eleven
Curaçao Red Cross volunteers involved in the Together
We Can (TWC) HIV peer education programme participated in a
Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)
workshop last weekend.
Focus of the September 21-23 workshop
was to receive training in the use of the TWC M&E Toolkit.
International Federation consultant Glenys Gonzalez of the
Dominican Republic was the facilitator.
While there was some resistance to using the toolkit with the
main fear being it will require a lot of work, many recognized
that the toolkit was developed to help improve the performance
of all TWC instructors and thus the programme itself.
All 11 participants promised to start using the tool with first
results expected to be reported within six to eight weeks.
Meanwhile, an ambitious proposal to
continue the HIV prevention project in Curaçao was send to a possible donor.
If accepted,
the Curaçao Red Cross will be able to continue their work
with TWC. They will also be able to continue the hairdresser
project for another two years.
Funding will also be used to launch
the Federation’s anti stigma and discrimination campaign ‘Come
closer...’ in August 2008.
