First
Aid instructors at the Belize Red Cross will meet again, in the
second week of June, to continue developing their skills and
experience.
The first Instructor Retreat and Knowledge
Sharing Meeting was held last December 2-3 to discuss issues
related to First Aid. Venue was the Chapel Hill Retreat Centre
in Benque Viejo Del Carmen.
“The purpose of the retreat was to bring together all of our
Instructors so that they could share ideas and experiences gathered
through the Caribbean First Aid Project,” explained Stephanie
Young, First Aid Manager. The Caribbean First Aid Project, funded
by the British Red Cross, ended last November. It involved the
National Societies of Belize, Grenada and Trinidad & Tobago.
Young said forms and course materials were
also discussed among the 28 instructors present; all Red Cross
branches in Belize was represented.
“We also presented instructors with
an Instructor Tool Kit and First Aid Resource Manual to help
facilitate training and harmonize first aid among all branches.”
ID cards and shirts to wear when conducting trainings were distributed
at the two day retreat.
An agenda is currently being worked out for
the June meeting. |
