Montserrat Red Cross helps mentally challenged

On Sunday May 14th, members of the Montserrat Red Cross (First Aiders) donated food packages to five mentally-challenged women in honour of Mothers’ Day.  The women all declared themselves “delighted, cheerful, and pleased” with the kind gesture of the group.

“It was rewarding to see the smiles that lit up the faces of the women” said one member of the group.  The packages were distributed by Group Leader, Mrs Madge Donoghue, and two other members of the First Aid group.

The Red Cross First Aiders have been distributing foods packages to mark Mothers’ Day for many years.  Initially gifts were given to senior citizens, but recently the focus has shifted to the mentally-challenged.
