Grenada Red Cross paints positive HIV messages on communtiy walls

2 November 2006

The Grenada Red Cross Together We Can (TWC) peer education programme, together with the U.S. Embassy, has embarked on a wall-painting project – to paint positive HIV/AIDS messages in communities where the TWC programme has been completed.

Several walls were identified in the communities by the peer educators, instructor trainers and HIV/AIDS Programme Coordinator Kerlin Charles.

Permission was sought and eventually granted from the Ministry of Sport and Community Development to paint the selected walls.

On October 18, all gathered at the Victoria Park, Grenville to begin painting the walls. Four days later the sign boards with positive messages were painted by another team of volunteers. The boards were then erected onto the wall on October 31.

Volunteers described the project as challenging, but added that they had fun while doing it.
