Grenada Red Cross promotes First Aid awareness

2 November 2006

The Health & Safety Department of Grenada Red Cross Society (GRCS) called out six of its volunteers on October 22 to assist with the painting of a First Aid sign on the wall of a popular playing field in the largest parish, St. Andrew’s.

The Red Cross van left headquarters early with painting gear to St. Andrew’s. The wall was painted white a few days before so that the base colour could “set” as the volunteers put it on.

After working for some time in blazing morning sun, it proved difficult to draft the message directly onto the wall and so the volunteers devised another strategy for the same outcome.

They returned to GRCS headquarters and worked all day until they had a finished product to erect the following day. This mini project was funded by the British Red Cross – Caribbean First Aid Project.
