Belize Red Cross appoints new coordinator for 'Together We Can' programme

29 August 2006

The Belize Red Cross, Together We Can (TWC) Project, has a new coordinator.  Miss Melina Diaz, has been appointed the role of coordinator with effect from September 4, 2006. Miss Diaz hails from Belize City and has just recently returned from university studies in Canada where she pursued her Bachelors in Social Work.

Miss Cherene Valerio, our past coordinator, is moving on to a new role at the Sadie Vernon High School as Counsellor. We wish Cherene all the best in her new endeavors and thank her for all the dedicated, long selfless and passionate hours spent in making the TWC project the huge success it is today in Belize and in the Caribbean.

Also, Mr. Tylone Tillett has been appointed the project's new Monitoring & Evaluation Officer. His position is with immediate effect and should last until June 2007, but we hope to hold on to Mr. Tillett for assistance in other areas of the BRC.

Mr. Tillett is now pursuing his Associates Degree in Social Work and comes with a wealth of experience in volunteering and working with youths.

Joining the TWC team for the next two years also, is Miss Dorothy Biberman, a US Peace Corp Volunteer. Miss Biberman will be working with our young peer educators, assisting in strengthening our youth arms throughout the country, and with the monitoring and evaluation aspect of the project.

Our very able Project Administrator, Miss Tashera Swift, will continue the great work she is doing at present and will work closely with our new team to strengthen and enhance the good work of TWC in Belize.

Cheers to the new TWC team and we look forward to much more exciting and effective results in the future of the project as they push forward into the end of 2006 and into a new year!
