St Lucia Red Cross Constitution under review

22 September 2005

The St Lucia Red Cross Society is in the process of reviewing its Constitution. The present constitution, which provides the legal framework for the operations of the organization, has been in existence for over 20 years.

The new draft constitution addresses 41 articles including the objectives of the St Lucia Red Cross; membership, structure and governance of the organization, as well as the role of the executive members. The draft document, which was prepared by the executive, has been distributed to members and volunteers of the St Lucia Red Cross for their comments and recommendations.

These recommendations will be discussed at a special meeting before the document is finally adopted. On adopting the new constitution, the General Assembly is then to elect a new executive to govern the operation of the St Lucia Red Cross in between sessions of the General Assembly.
