Guyana Red Cross assists nursery school

11 April 2005

The Guyana Red Cross Society (GRCS) donated a one-burner gas stove and a gas cylinder to the Nabacalis Nursery School on March 24th, to help maintain a safe drinking water supply for both staff and students.

Ms. Henry, the headmistress, indicated that the school had a stove to boil water before, but it had long since been damaged.

GRCS also distributed 120 hampers to the students at the nursery school which included a colouring book, a drawing book, crayons, milk powder and Milo.

The children were very excited to receive their hampers, especially when they saw the colouring books and crayons.

Since only some of the children were at school that day, GRCS volunteers, with the help of a teacher, distributed hampers house to house, to ensure that each child from the school received their hampers.
