Guyana Red Cross branch organises demonstrations to observe World First Aid Day 2005

28 September 2005

In recognition of World First Aid Day 2005, the Guyana Red Cross - Lethem branch performed first aid demonstrations at the Immigration Office of the Lethem airstrip.

The demonstrations were done Saturday September 10 instead of September 11 (World First Aid Day) in order to capitalize on the busiest day at the airstrip.

The demonstrations lasted for four hours, with many locals and visitors showing keen interest. Onlookers were encouraged to test their care-giving skills/knowledge and were also encouraged to sign up for First Aid classes.  This opportunity was also used to promote HIV/AIDS and health awareness with the use of posters.
