Guyana Red Cross distributes baby hampers

11 April 2005

Through 'unsolicited' donations from the National Bank of Industry and Commerce, items donated from overseas and local groups in Guyana, the Guyana Red Cross Society (GRCS) has been putting together 'baby hampers' to help out pregnant mothers and mothers with newborn babies, that have been affected by the floods.

The baby hampers consist of pampers, Vaseline, milk, formula, baby food, washrags, towel, vest, bibs, baby oil and baby powder.

In special cases where the mothers are persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs), a baby bottle is added to the baby hamper. The response for these hampers have been overwhelming, with GRCS providing baby hampers on a daily basis. GRCS continues to provide flood relief assistance in the aftermath of the flood.
