The Curaçao Red Cross placed a large "Thank
You " advertisement
in local
newspapers in July as their way of thanking the
population for the enormous support they received from
the public to collect funds for the victims of the Asia tsunami.
In all, a total of USDollar $547,520 or Antilles Dutch Guilder
$985,536.15 was collected.
It was possible to achieve this with the help of 'Radio Solidario'
- an initiative of several local radio stations broadcasting
on 7th January from 14.00 hrs to 19.00 hrs (2 - 5 p.m.) out
of the Kura Holanda Conference Centre.
The public has been informed that the money was sent to the
IFRC account in Geneva and that for those interested, current
and future Red Cross projects in the Tsunami affected countries
can be monitored on the IFRC website.
Curaçao Red Cross, working
on a small island with a population of 140,000 people, is committed
to continuing their strong support to others in times of needs.
