The Belize Red Cross Society is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Lily Bowman, J.P. to the post of Director General. Mrs. Bowman joins our Society after 27 years of banking experience with Barclays Bank PLC.

Many of those years were focused on product­ development, marketing and staff training. She has also worked extensively in fundraising for HIV/AIDS related organizations and is the chairperson of the St. George's Caye Community Council. Mrs. Bowman brings a wealth of leadership, organization and public relations skills to our Society and we are thrilled that she has joined the family that is our Movement.

Her appointment is with effect from Monday, May 16, 2005 . Mrs. Bowman will attend a course on "International Responsibilities of the National Society Leaders" to be held from 29 May to 03 June 2005 in Geneva , Switzerland .

The National Executive acknowledges with gratitude, the contributions of Mrs. Marylee Ellis who has performed as the Acting director general for the last two years. Mrs. Ellis will be resuming the substantive post of Deputy director general. We are confident the combined skills of this outstanding management team will move our Society forward in assisting the most vulnerable in our communities, attaining our development goals and in disseminating the Fundamental Principles and Humanitarian Values of the Red Cross.
