Dominican Republic nationals in Antigua receive First Aid certificates

 

Six Dominican Republic nations living in Antigua recently received certificates as instructors in Community First Aid and Safety.

Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross (ABRC) president, Ms Judie Labadie presented the certificates to the Hispanics at the end of a church service in The Holy Family Cathedral.

The First Aid Instructors were part of 20 Hispanics who satisfactorily completed a First Aid Course conducted in Spanish by the ABRC Red Cross.

Red Cross director general, Gerald Price said more than 8,000 persons from the Dominican Republic live in Antigua and Barbuda. "These new First Aid Instructors will now conduct First Aid classes to the Hispanics in their language" Mr Price said.

The instructors demonstrated their teaching skills in First Aid on the church lawn to the Hispanics who were also treated to light refreshments.

A bouquet of flowers was presented to Ms Labadie in appreciation for presenting the certificates and Mr Price was given a "Gracis" plaque for conducting the courses.
