Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross conducts Spanish First Aid course

There are more than 8,000 Hispanics living in Antigua and Barbuda and 95 percent of these people are from the Dominican Republic. The Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross in keeping with its aim to teach First Aid to one percent of the population annually conducted a Community First Aid course in Spanish for 30 Hispanics in December 2003.

To further its aim, the Red Cross began a First Aid Instructor course in Spanish in January 2004 for 15 of the Hispanics who attended the course in December.

The one hour weekly course places emphasis on teaching skills and knowledge of the subject. The course ends on March 30, 2004 according to Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross director general Gerald Price who added the National Society will provide all teaching materials for the Hispanic instructors.
