Anguilla Red Cross sends relief supplies to Grenada

22 September 2004

About 50 boxes of clothes and shoes have so far been donated by the Anguilla Red Cross to Grenada .

A release from the society stated that it is still accepting additional supplies for its Grenada Appeal Drive as a container will leave Anguilla next week.

"Our counterparts in Grenada have reliably informed us that while the people are grateful for the clothing they are receiving they are in dire need of food and water," said Doreen James, president of the Anguilla Red Cross.

She said the Red Cross is also appealing to business places and the community at large for non-perishable food and water to be sent to Grenada.

Persons wishing to send items are asked to send packed boxes to the Anguilla Red Cross Office at the old hospital compound at Roaches Hill. If there is need for transportation persons could contact Steve at (264) 235-6269.

The Red Cross office is open daily from 9 am to 1 pm by volunteers who are sorting and packing boxes to be sent to Grenada.

The Red Cross wishes to thank the Anguilla community for their overwhelming contribution to the Grenada Appeal Drive.
