Spice It Up – Sing for preparedness

The Grenada Red Cross Society’s Disaster Management project is having a national song competition, Spice It Up - Sing for Preparedness. The final event will be on Saturday, 23rd June 2012 at the Grenada Trade Centre. It will include a Disaster & Climate Change Awareness Fun Day that will climax into the grand finals of Spice It Up - Sing for Preparedness. T

The Grenada Red Cross Society hosted participants from across the Tri-Island state of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique from September 20^th - 24^th, 2010 for National Intervention Team (NIT) training. The facilitator was Mr. Kenneth Letterboom, an international facilitator in Disaster Management from Suriname.

The Grenada Red Cross Society started as a Branch of the British Red Cross following the devastation of the island by Hurricane Janet in 1955. It became an independent National Society in 1987 and has its own headquarters in the country’s capital city.

The Grenada Red Cross Society, a voluntary organization, equips communities to serve humanity through the promotion of health and safety, disaster preparedness and response, social welfare and youth programs.

We will strive to be the number one humanitarian organization in the country by being the forerunner in providing quality, dependable and reliable service to our constituencies.
We will develop and implement programs to support our core areas of activity (health and safety, disaster preparedness and response, social welfare, and youth programs).
We will pursue those opportunities that are financially realistic and capitalize on the technical expertise of our staff and volunteers, and opportunities that are of interest to our partners, our communities, and our National Societies.
We will do all in our power to enhance our public image and to win the trust and confidence of the population.
