Oranjestad – Friday October 22, 2010 was a very important day for Red Cross Aruba. The Minister of Social Affairs of Aruba, Minister Hooyboer-Winklaar, launched Aruba Red Cross’ new website right from her office: www.redcrossaruba.com
Red Cross Aruba works close with different ministries. In cases of desaster relief, there is a strong relationship with the Prime Minister, Mr. Mike Eman, and also with the Minister of Healthcare, Dr. Richard Visser. But Red Cross Aruba also has a strong relationship with the Minister of Social Affairs, Mrs. Michelle Hooyboer-Winklaar, due to the broad scope of social work carried out by Red Cross Aruba, albeit that this side of the Red Cross activities are mostly done in discretion; all the more the reason to approach the Minister of Social Affairs for such a very special event.
Minister Hooyboer-Winklaar received the President of Red Cross Aruba, Greg Peterson, director Michel La Haye, Chief of Operations and Marketing, Indra Anthony-Pereira, Administrative Assistant, Minerva Huizinga and volunteers Jedrick Perez and André Petrocthi. Minister Hooyboer-Winklaar pleasently surprised the volunteers when she took her time and interchanged intensively with Jedrick and André on what inspired them to become volunteers. The Minister also expressed her admiration and gratitude to them for their input to the benefit of the community.
Red Cross Aruba’s website is an extensive one and will serve many purposes, according to Indra Anthony-Pereira, responsible for developing the website. One rather nice development is that an increasing number of youth is using this humanitarian organization as the main topic for their school projects. The website, a product of the strategic plan of Red Cross Aruba, brings the organization and its efforts closer to the community. Greg Peterson, president of Red Cross Aruba, is very happy with and proud of the work done by Indra Anthony-Pereira who made this project become a reality. Now Red Cross Aruba is just one click away.
