Antigua and Barbuda

May 4 - Presentations on the History of the Red Cross in five secondary schools

May 8 - All Red Cross members will wear Red Cross uniforms at school and work.

Radio and TV talks about the history of Red Cross and the activates of the Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross

Youths will distribute flyers on the streets of St. John's, the captial, on the life of Henry Dunant.

Aruba

May 1 - article in newspaper announcing 50 years of Aruba Red Cross. In this article the theme of Together for Humanity is highlighted

May 6 - Coffee morning at the RC building

May 25 - Rock concert Intwine, international popgroup, higlighting the Faces campaign. They will launch their specially made Red Cross song and video clip.

May 26 - fundraiser Golf Tournament

May 26 - Evening reception for the 50th anniversary with special guest, general director of the Netherlands Red Cross Cees Brreederveld and cluster manager Sjoerd Tolsma

Barbados

As customary the Barbados Red Cross Society, on the Sunday closest to International Red Cross Day (this year Sunday 6th May), will participate in a Church service. At the service the priest focuses on the work of the Red Cross in the community, nationally, regionally and international.

The President or his representative also gives remarks which focus on the international message for World Red Cross Day. This year the Director General Edmond Bradshaw will give remarks as the President, Dr. Raymond Forde, is in Geneva attending meetings of the Federation of which he is Vice President.

The service is attended by representatives of government, ambassadors, the heads of international agencies and local organizations. Detachments from the Defence Force, Police, Prison, Fire Service and St. John Ambulance Brigade also attend.

Red Cross Council members, volunteers, members and Youth Links also participate. A Youth Link member will read one of the lessons.

The adult volunteers will line the aisle at the start of the service and present the Red Cross flag, while at the end of the service the youth volunteers line the aisle and retreat with the flag.

Bermuda

May 4 - 3rd Annual Red, White & Do Day. We invite the community, through schools, offices and community organizations to participated by wearing red and white and think of something to do to promote health, safety and preparedness. Each year we get more and more organizations participating. Apart from being an easy fundraiser, this encourages the public to be more safety conscious.

Churches on the Island have been asked sent letters to say a special prayer on Sunday, 6th May for Red Cross Red Crescent volunteers around the world.

British Virgin Islands

Red Cross Week in the British Virgin Islands will be celebrated from Sunday May 6 to Saturday May 12.

May 6 - Church Service for all members at St. Georges Episcopal Church

May 7 - 11 – Every morning a five minute feature on ZBVI Radio Almanac (disseminating information on the Red Cross Activities – Movement, HIV/Aids, Disaster Preparedness, Juniors & Youth, First Aid.

May 8 – Juniors will have a fundraiser at school (Dress Up Day). Special feature on TV about Red Cross, 5 minute feature on Radio, Dress Up Day by students

May 9 – Luncheon for Children of the School for physically challenged children. (Hosted by Red Cross)

May 11 – Collection Drive around island. Slogan “Your $1.00 can help save a life”

May 12 – Dedication and commissioning of new Red Cross Headquarters building in Virgin Gorda.

Cayman Islands

May 3 - International Ladies Coffee Morning, 9.30 a.m., upstairs Red Cross building. Theme: Red Cross in the community

May 5 - Red Cross Deals on Wheels, West Bay. Mobile Thrift Shop from 6:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. All items at affordable prices.

May 7 - Unveiling of Fundraising Thermometer in celebration of World Red Cross Red Crescent Day. As part of the Red Cross' fundraising initiative to raise CI $200,000. this year and in support of its community programmes, a fundraising thermometer will be unveiled by Red Cross Patron H.E. the Governor Mr. Stuart Jack.

May 11 - Special Red Cross Dress Down Day. A day of community spirit will be held with Red Cross encouraging businesses, schools, and all members of the public to wear red as part of their support to the Red Cross and its efforts to increase awareness and reach its fundraising goals for May.

May 12 - Seven Miles of Volunteerism. Recognizing the importance of volunteerism, all Red Cross volunteers are asking the community and tourists to come out to Seven Mile beach. The Red Cross is planning to achieve a goal of having 7 miles of citizens all holding hands in support of the Red Cross.

May 30 - Island wide Sandbag Sales. As part of its mandate to prepare the community for hurricane season, the Cayman Islands Red Cross will be selling sandbags at strategic locations around Grand Cayman. The cost of the sandbag will be $1.00.

May 30 - Thrift Shop Raffle Draw

June 22 - Annual Red Cross Dinner and Dance. Featuring the Elton John Act world renowned “Elton Joey”. Come and enjoy a wonderful night of fine dining and dance the night away to the nostalgic tunes of your favorite artist. Fabulous prizes to be won, live auction, raffles, a night to remember. Dynamic keynote speaker Mr.Pablo Suarez (PhD) is a technical advisor for the Red Cross Centre on Climate Change, as well as a consultant for the World Bank Development Economics Research Group. He is a visiting scholar at Boston University 's Department of Geography and Environment.

Curacao

May 8 - Opening of high schools' poster competition exhibition. As an initiators of the Curacao HIV/AIDS Network, the theme of the event will be on HIV/AIDS prevention. Miss Teenage Curacao will open the exhibition to be held in the youth station of the library. Judges will chose the best three posters, FACES tee-shirts will be sold, and there will also be condom demonstrations and distribution.

Lethem Branch

May 8 - Edutainment Drive – GRCS volunteers will drive around the community and persons can donate any books, literature, newspaper, VHS, DVD, sports gear, etc to the GRCS, which will then be donated to 12 communities from 4 sub-districts: Deep South , South PK, North and South Central.  These 12 communities in the past have indicated to GRCS their need for such materials; GRCS will donate mosquito nets to the communities of Lethem, Aishalton and Annai.

St Lucia

May 6 - Church Service at the Babonneau Catholic Church from 8.00 a.m. Our Patron, Her Excellency Dame Perlette Louisy, the Minister of Health, Minister of Youth the Parliamentary Representative and other invited guests will be present.

After the church service there will be a parade of all Red Cross groups and branches led by the St. Lucia Cadet Corps parade band, where the Governor General will take the salute.

A congress of all groups will be held at the Babonneau Secondary School where the President, Ministers and Parliamentary Representative will address the gathering.

A fun sports meet will be held during the afternoon, both youth and adults members has signed up for the various activities.

May 8 - the President's and Patron's messages will be aired on the National Television Network and the other two private television stations.

Red Cross Youth members have planned activities at the various schools Island wide. They include School Assembly, reading of messages, fund raising etc.
