On May 8th 2006 the International Red Cross Red Crescent Movement celebrates World Red Cross Red Crescent Day, in commemoration of its founder Henri Dunant.

In Trinidad and Tobago the TTRCS will celebrate this important day and month with several activities, highlighting this year’s global theme of Universal Assistance through Volunteering.

During the month of May we will be encouraging our local communities to take notice of the vulnerable among us and their many needs, and will try to persuade more of the public that they too can assist in this much needed humanitarian work.

We will be encouraging partnerships to continue our work in supporting community health, through education in HIV/AIDS, in natural disaster management, through the preparedness of communities that are threatened, and in promoting our messages of tolerance, non violence and non discrimination.
