Grenada Red Cross activities

The Grenada Red Cross Society celebrated World Red Cross Day 2004 with a number of activities;

May 5th 2004 Address to the nation by Patron, His Excellency, Sir Daniel Williams GCMG, QC.

May 8th 2004 Community Day – where different Red Cross Groups across the island were engaged in different community projects.

May 9th 2004 Church Service, which was held at the Presbyterian Church, Grand Etang Road St. George’s where members were present in full uniform.

May 11th 2004 Red Cross Rally and parade at the Fur Pasture in St. Patrick’s, where approximately 500 youth volunteers and about 75 adults where present, the Governor General, Government Officials supporters and volunteers.

• Arrival & Inspection of His Excellency Sir Daniel Williams –GCMG, QC.
• Remarks by the President – Pastor Christopher Williams.
• Feature Address by Mr. Terry Charles – Director General
• Cultural Items from different Red Cross Groups
• Distribution of Awards
   -Outstanding Youth
   -Outstanding Leader
   -Outstanding Adult – Health Safety Department
   -5 & 10 Years Service.
   -Friend of the Society
   -Longstanding Member & Supporter
   -Meritorious Award

A numbers of press releases were sent to the different media houses, different members of staff did interviews with the local media. We were also given the opportunity to be a part of a half of an hour radio program where the achievements of the society was looked over the past years, the different services of the Red Cross was promoted.
